Atoussa Mahmoudpour is WELL’s Chief Legal Officer and Chief Privacy Officer. She joined WELL in September 2020 as VP of Legal and Compliance, and soon after, she was promoted to her current position as the company’s Chief Legal Officer. She advises senior executives on a wide range of issues related to public company reporting obligations, corporate governance best practices, compliance matters, cross-border capital markets transactions, M&A transactions and develops relationships with regulatory bodies in the United States and Canada. She brings with her a breadth of experience in the areas of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial, data privacy and regulatory compliance. She has advised clients in various sectors, with experience in technology, media and telecommunications.

Prior to joining WELL, she held senior lawyer positions at top-tier international firms, including, most recently, Eversheds Sutherland LLP from 2016 to 2020. Atoussa has over 12 years of international legal experience and has worked on multiple complex transactions, spanning Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. 

Atoussa was recently recognized as Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women by WXN. She has been acknowledged by major peer and client-reviewed publications, including being named as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 International (2020 edition), a Next Generation Lawyers in the Legal 500 International 2019 edition) and “an expert in her field” by Chambers and Partners (2019-2021).

Atoussa is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing.  

Outside of WELL, she devotes her time to her 2 year-old daughter, her husband who is new to Canada and the Canadian culture, and her elderly parents. 

Atoussa is also an author of a book that she strongly believes will give voice and perspective to women around the world. She also has her own legal practice for all her pro bono work, because her ultimate passion in life is to help individuals, especially women in supressed societies or communities, despite challenging circumstances, to find their voice, their talent and to empower their self-worth.
