Kevin Swan

Former Managing Director, Head of Private Market Solutions

Morgan Stanley

Kevin left his family’s apiary on the Canadian prairies for Silicon Valley, trading beehives for building high-growth technology companies as an operator and investor.

He most recently served as Managing Director and Head of Private Market Solutions at Morgan Stanley, where he led private market liquidity initiatives, secondary transactions, and ecosystem development within the wealth management division — helping unlock value for private companies and their stakeholders.

Kevin’s career bridges startups, venture capital, and financial services. After early roles in technology startups he joined Inovia Capital, leading investments in early-stage tech companies across the US and Canada. He then moved to portfolio company AppDirect in San Francisco as VP of Corporate Development, fueling its transformation from startup to unicorn. Returning to Canada, he joined Calgary-based Solium Capital (now Shareworks) as VP of Corporate Development, driving strategy, acquisitions, and new ventures that culminated in Solium’s $1.1Bn acquisition by Morgan Stanley in 2019.

A mechanical engineer by training, Kevin holds a BSc from the University of Alberta and MS from Stanford University, focused on mechatronics and control systems. He resides outside of Calgary with his wife and four children and can often be found with them in hockey rinks and in the mountains.
