Michael Notto is Partner, Growth Equity in our Toronto office. Mike has over 15 years of diverse professional experience including roles in private equity, corporate strategy, operations, and investment banking. Having evaluated and executed transactions from all sides of the table – as an operator, investor, owner, and advisor – Mike brings a well-rounded and constructive perspective to his partnership with management teams. Mike has a growth-oriented mindset, with experience ranging from strategic planning for a venture-backed, rapidly-growing start-up to working on strategy projects and growth plans for large public companies.
Before joining BDC Capital, Mike worked as AVP, Corporate Development & Strategy at Canadian Tire executing several M&A transactions and corporate strategy projects. Prior to Canadian Tire, Mike worked as VP, Private Equity in the Technology, Media & Telecom Fund at Novacap. Prior to Novacap, he was VP, Strategic Planning and Financial Analysis at the private equity-owned start-up, Public Mobile. There, he was involved in the M&A, capital raising and strategic planning initiatives of the company, which was ultimately sold to TELUS. He previously worked as an Associate in Technology, Media and Telecom investment banking at CIBC World Markets, serving a diverse group of public and private companies across Canada. Earlier in his career, Mike spent several years in various private equity roles at both University of Toronto Asset Management and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan.
Mike is a CFA charter holder and completed his MBA at the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. He also holds an honours degree in Finance and Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University. Mike looks forward to partnering with Canadian entrepreneurs to help them achieve the next phase of their growth objectives through customized capital solutions as well as supporting them on strategic initiatives.
